UVA Health

Transplant Nursing

Join our team of more than 20 physicians, dedicated nurses, coordinators and care providers at UVA’s Charles O. Strickler Transplant Center — Virginia’s only comprehensive transplant center.

With more than 5,000 transplants, we have become leaders in procedures and research, allowing our teams to consistently evolve our practice capabilities from bedside to bench.

The types of transplants we perform at UVA’s Charles O. Strickler Transplant Center include:

  • Liver
  • Heart
  • Lung
  • Kidney
  • Small bowel
  • Pancreas
  • Bone marrow

UVA also has two exciting UVA transplant initiatives:

  • Paired Kidney Exchange Program – Seeks and finds alternative matches, regionally and nationally, for both the donor and the recipient should they prove incompatible for each other.
  • Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion Technology – Effectively doubles the time to harvest and prepare lungs for transplant from six hours to 12, allowing UVA to look nationwide — instead of just close to home — for the best possible match.
